Our Story
We are Ruci and Mali, and we warmly welcome you to our homestay by the beach on the beautiful island of Wayasewa (Waya Lailai), at the southern tip of the Yasawas. Since 2017, we’ve had the joy of hosting hundreds of guests from around the world.
Staying with us is more than just a place to sleep - it’s an invitation to experience real Fijian life. Step outside the resorts and become part of our village, where you’ll share in daily activities, traditions, and community life. You’ll meet our family and friends, join in village gatherings, and leave not just with memories, but with a true connection to Fiji and its people.
What to expect
When you stay with us in Namara, you’ll be welcomed into village life and traditions. One important custom is the Savusavu - bringing kava as a gift to the village chief. This is a gesture of respect and gratitude, and we’re happy to guide you through the tradition if it’s your first time.
In the village, we kindly ask that guests wear a sarong (sulu) when walking around, as it’s part of our cultural dress code. On the beach, however, you’re free to relax in your swimsuit or bikini.
If you have food allergies or dietary needs (such as gluten or dairy), please let us know at least a week in advance, or bring along any special ingredients from the mainland. We want to make your stay as comfortable as possible, but since we only travel to the mainland about once a week, we may not always have specific items on hand.
Your time here will be simple, authentic, and full of connection - an experience of real Fijian life.
Important note: We do not take card on the island so make sure to bring enough cash for your stay and activities.
